about

Mothers Ruin lifted a pervasive alarm clock motif from Bomb the Bass with a bassy nod towards Talking Heads and Prancing Pearl drew especially from our love of ESG, Electrelane and Basic Channel.

These two existential-road-safety themed songs were paired on this record, with Matthew penning lyrics for Mother's Ruin (Nina adding the song title) and Nina coming up with Prancing Pearl words to fit with a no-wave disco jam the band had been working on, as they moved out of the bedroom into the indie-disco following the 2006 album.

Thanks to Aaron Sewards for the beautiful sleeve illustration and to Steve Brett and Stitch-Stitch Records for releasing it.
